Week 8

This week we continued learning about evaluating art and the craziness of the art markets that loosely correlates with historical importance or innovation of artwork and can show a certain group of collectors who wants to pay for a given work of art and a given time. Also learned the 3 methods to write about art which are 1.Get the facts 2.Analyze 3.Evaluate. Also skimmed a bit about Censorship in art and how artists freedom of expression is subdued to a point if they go against the grain sometimes they could get jailed for what they do in forms of art. Usually when its Censored is usually because its due to Religion, Politics or someones Morals.

Saw this painting in one of the museums (can't recall which one, i want to say it was the smithsonian art museum, it's been 4 years since i went there) and really, really enjoyed this piece its the only one that has been permanently engraved in my mind. I think it is because of how peaceful, serene it is and the detail was amazing not to mention this painting was huge! it is called Among the Sierra Nevada by Albert Bierstadt.
