Week 3

Read someones story about when they were in an meeting at work. He was getting impatient, bored so he started to doodle, something he hasn't done it since elementary school. He was so in his own little world that he didn't hear his CEO ask him "what is that?" when he noticed the CEO was talking to him and replied "It's a sword". I guess everyone thought it was funny because everyone started laughing at him and the CEO had the gale to take his notebook and show to all his co-workers which started their laughing fits all over again, making jokes about the doodle like "whats the dps" and a whole bunch of other childish questions. Towards the end of the story he says "I'm 40, and i havent drawn since i was a little kid. No idea way i did this but when I did this but of course when i decided to it's the worst possible place and the worst possible outcome."

What really irks me about this story is that this guy was showing his creative side and what he got in return was laughter and being the joke of his workplace and was shut down. It seems like in society you can express who are, if you do you will get laugh at, made fun of ect. It shouldn't be like that at all we are going about this the wrong way.

This week in class we brought a piece of artwork or artifact to present to the class, also started to review chapter 2, Which was the 6 functions of art which are:
1.Delight
2.Commemoration
3.Worship/Ritual
4.Commentary
5.Persuasion
6.Self expression
